SECRET MODE – STILL WAKES THE DEEP

CREATIVE PROCESS

The Chinese Room is famous for its tense first-person horror and thriller games, and anticipation for Still Wakes the Deep has been high since its Xbox Showcase reveal in 2023. Featured on the cover of EDGE Magazine, we aimed to create something that matched the game’s terrifying vibe.

Inspired by the crumbling Beira D oil rig in the game, we designed a custom Xbox Series X skin. The centerpiece is a smashed-up door with a glowing red LED alarm. Reflecting the monster’s makeup, a hand-painted iridescent oil effect spills from the door.

Our bespoke Xbox features airbrushed paint for a rusted metallic look, 3D-printed vault spindles, thick piping on the sides, and a control panel with gauges. The painted oil slick effect also covers the Xbox controllers, all finished with Still Wakes the Deep branding.
